When it comes to Chillers, there are various methods of energy saving. One of the most popular method involves capacity modulation to closely match with building load line. Scientific data suggests weather impacts cooling load profile. And the peak design condition occur only 1-2% of total number of hours per year.

Although engineers design for best cooling performance under worst weather conditions, but there remains ample room for energy conservation, especially when operating machines at off-design conditions. Let’s therefore explore the application of speed control methodology to different types of Chiller technologies that helps in saving energy bill for the owners, throughout the year.

A case study of an innovative air cooled chiller plant versus conventional air cooled chiller plant detailing energy cost savings will be presented.

Ever since the first Montreal Protocol meetings began regulating CFCs in the 1980s, refrigerant rules and acceptability continue to evolve. Since then, there has been an increased focus and accelerated timing on regulations for all fluids that are being used today in the HVAC industry.

Now, the latest Montreal Protocol agreement signed October 16th 2016 focuses on phase-down of HFCs. This persistent churn generates confusion- what's in, what's out, and what's coming? At the same time, the market has been demanding equipment, design strategies and control methods that result in the highest levels of efficiency- will the new fluids hinder or enhance that efficiency?

Albert Haykal will describe the next-generation of fluids, which represent new challenges for providing the highest performing HVAC equipment; besides efficiency they may also challenge the industry's expectations for safety and flammability. This presentation separates fact from fiction, and discusses why, when, and how the industry will face the coming refrigerant transitions.

This Eurovent Seminar briefs you on the status quo concerning the EU ‘F-Gas Regulation’, which was first adopted in 2006 and replaced by a new Regulation in 2015. The ‘F-Gas Regulation’ is a widely known law that controls emissions from fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases), including hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). It has led to wide-ranging implications in Europe, but also in Saudi Arabia and the GCC region.

For example, installers need to be trained for the handling of new types of refrigerants, and safety issues arise as many of the so-far proposed alternatives with a low global warming potential tend to be flammable. While natural refrigerants can certainly provide a good alternative in many areas, they are not always suitable for all climate zones. Furthermore, smaller applications can have difficulties incorporating these until new technologies become market-ready.

Driven by stricter legislative demands and a raising awareness on the negative impacts of air pollution, hygienic aspects play an increasingly important role in air handling. Reacting to these demands, Eurovent Certification has launched a three-level hygienic option for its Eurovent Certified Performance (ECP) programme for Air Handling Units (AHUs).

The certification programme is an option for the existing ‘Eurovent Certified Performance’ programme for AHUs. The aim of this option is to guarantee a good air quality of an AHU by checking key hygienic factors, maintenance aspects, materials durability, and component performance.
